Two years ago in a room in a secluded part of the school, Voices of Roosevelt was started by a handful of hopeful people that wanted to create. Those people are now graduating and leaving behind a legacy that will, hopefully, be around for years to come. With their departure Ellie Weiner, Kennedy Hansen, and Audriana Brown wanted to take a walk down memory lane and share their final thoughts.
In an interview with her, Ellie shares “I came back from the pandemic and noticed a drift between students, teachers, just everyone here. So I wanted to create something that everyone could read and get info from.”. That simple idea is what sparked such an amazing project that Ellie was able to carry out, not without help of course. She was joined By Kennedy and Bobby, who has since graduated. “A few came and went, but that was the main little group until Audriana joined.” Ellie shared later in the interview, “it’s hard to run a team so small, but we did it!”. Her hopes for the future of Voices of Roosevelt are that it just keeps going, long after she has graduated.
Kennedy spoke a lot on how this paper has helped solidify their passion and acel their career. “The accomplishments I’m most proud of have been my three stories in the local paper.” Kennedy states “this paper for me has been such an amazing experience for me. I have met so many amazing people, been to a lot of career boosting opportunities, and have really found my calling.”. Kennedy’s sweet words captor the general feelings of the departing seniors in such a beautiful way. “Without this paper I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Audriana has been such a huge contributor to the artistic side of Voices of Roosevelt. From editing cover photos, to press passes, to the logo itself, Audriana has done it. Not only that, they have written multiple hard hitting articles about very raw and real topics. Audriana’s contributions to the paper will always be beautiful and well handled.
Taking on something they have worked so hard to build is, to say the least, an honor. Knowing these people for the past year has been so wonderful, they are beautiful souls that are so extremely talented. I know that everything they will accomplish in the future will be beyond impressive. Thank you Ellie, Kennedy, and Audriana for being a part of this paper.
