About the Contributors

Eli, Managing Editor
Eli Mair Lowery is a 15 year-old sophomore and this is his first year on the paper. He was born and raised in Portland, in the University Park neighborhood. The motto he lives his life by is “The time will pass anyways.” He describes himself as ambitious, creative and caring. His family and friends motivate him to be successful, and he has a good work ethic. Eli loves to talk to people, to write and is curious about the world, all skills that translate well into his work with Voices.

Jordan Killian, Head of Design
Jordan (He/Him) is a 15 year old sophomore, and a senior member of the newspaper. He grew up in Lincoln City but now resides in North Portland. In 10 years he will most likely be an extremely famous journalist or (if it doesn’t work out) chopping wood in Alaska with his pet husky. Last year, he won a journalism award for his article about Chappell Roan and the chokehold she has had on the internet this past year. Besides writing, his greatest skill is being able to sing the 50 states song in 8 seconds. He’s a very motivated and empathetic person, and his favorite part of the community around Roosevelt is how kind everyone is to each other. He’s excited to be able to share new stories this year!
