This fall, two of our sports teams made it to the playoffs.
Boys soccer secured a spot in OSAA state playoffs, being ranked 4th place in the PIL and 13th place in the state. After a season of 9 wins, 5 losses and 3 ties, the team headed to the playoffs. Their first game was against David Douglas High School, ranked 19th in state taking place on Saturday, November 2nd at 2 pm. This was a historic game being the first home playoff game in Roosevelt High School history. It was a close game, Roosevelt winning 3-2 and advancing to the second round of playoffs. Goals were scored by Owen Nathan and Jack Thompson. The second round playoff game was an away game taking place in McMinnville on Tuesday November 5th at 6 pm. They competed for a spot in the quarter finals but lost the game 1-3 with a goal scored by Seau Slingerland. The loss brought this year’s men’s soccer season to an end.
The Roosevelt football team ranked 3rd place in PIL and 28th place in state, and made it to the playoffs as well. After losing their first five games, the Roughriders made a comeback winning four straight games to top off the end of their season. Their first round playoff game took place on Friday, November 8th at 7 pm. They battled it out against North Medford on Southern Oregon University’s field. They put up a good fight but lost to North Medford the final score being 14-28. They showed perseverance and hard work this season and next year is looking promising.
