Dear reader, you’ve been hired under the role of a private investigator to retell and uncover the truth of a series of missing persons cases linked to California’s Walawachee National Park. This passion project contains monthly cases for you to engage in and crack, dedicated to those who find themselves engaging in forensics and whodunnits on a serious level. The entirety of this project is very productive, allowing you to decide outcomes and put your own twist on the series of events based on how you process the evidence given. Without further ado, let’s get to the case briefing.
Deep in the redwoods of Walawachee National Park lies the prestigious Flicker Valley summer camp, a 320~ acre getaway dedicated to those with an eye for craftsmanship and taming the wilderness. As materialistic as it sounds, the camp has suffered a series of budget cuts due to a lack of overall revenue, solely because of its problematic past. Topics concerning a fire watchman who was murdered mere miles from the park in 87’ have resurfaced after a new string of disappearances have taken place. Locals are as concerned as the next person, and finding out why is crucial in putting the hysteria to rest. Multiple ‘shady’ occurrences from the summer camp employees have been documented, along with a mass of evidence tethered together and compiled for your eyes only. Nothing has screamed homicide more than a dozen individuals faces on the canteen milk cartons, all belonging to adolescents who attended the camp and stayed for longer than a week. Walking onto the scene for the first time was nothing short of depressing either, with a lingering dread in the height of the night that suffocated the atmosphere and enveloped any positive experiences the camp previously held. Despite the profound lack of any witnesses and bodies, multiple reports pertaining to the transportation of what appeared to be ‘human shaped bags’ were sent in by concerned counselors- eventually leading to a bust in the operation. At Least two bodies were reported to have been discovered in the secondary freezer, prompting a police visit that eventually led to a full-scale investigation. The confirmation of the camp-goers’ demise was sickening at the least, only fueling the public fire that led to a “Retribution Mob” that sought out the shutdown of all summer camp operations at Walawachee. Public police accounts and testimonies dedicated to affected families shined light on the condition of the corpses, with autopsy reports revealing… A cliffhanger.
