Hazel Hooton

Hazel Hooton

Hazel Hooton is a 15 year old Sophomore at Roosevelt High School. She is very involved in her community while being Co-Dance Captain of the Varsity Dance Team, a part of the leadership class and Club Commissioner. A motto Hazel lives by is, “Treat others how you want to be treated”. Her favorite part about her community is the diversity and seeing everyone’s perspective on different topics and discussions. In five years Hazel pictures herself in college getting a degree in communications in either Oregon or California. She would like to get a scholarship out of state or move out of Portland eventually but all of her roots are in Portland. Five years after that she hopes to be a part of the music industry or doing something with her degree. If she could change one thing about the world, she would change the political and economic status of the world. In her free time, if not dancing, she is acting or on stage crew. Her biggest role models are her dad and her dance coach, She says her dad has inspired her greatly, but he is also her best friend. The best advice she has ever been given is, “Reading is what? Fundamental. Don’t be afraid to read the filth out of anybody.” She speaks English but is in her second year of learning ASL. She grew up all over Portland but is currently living east of Portsmouth. Hazel describes herself as Creative and she likes to live in an artistic manner, she also described herself as a leader.
