Val Lopez is a 17 year old ‘college student in the making,’ currently situated in her senior year of highschool at Roosevelt. Being bilingual, English and Spanish, Val is able to communicate her way around her home town of Portland, Oregon with ease. She ‘treats people with kindness’ by upholding a benevolent attitude with everyone she meets, making her well-liked by the majority. Val is a very family oriented person, looking up to her older sister as her main source of inspiration. She appreciates how her sister pushes a headstrong work ethic in her life, which has greatly impacted how she takes on challenging school assessments. With such strong influences in her life, Val has gained a strong moral compass powered by her immense empathy for others around her. She believes the whole ‘make love not war’ saying, which truly illustrates how positive her viewpoints are. With good grades and graduation in mind, Val is touched by the thought of impacting the Voices of Roosevelt team with her own quirks, likely to linger well after graduation.
