CTE Business Management teaches students real-world skills involving finance, product design, and entrepreneurship. Business management is a good class to take because it prepares students to manage finances, understand how companies operate, and develop skills that can be applied to future careers. You will learn problem-solving skills and how to communicate with customers and leadership.
In classes 1-2, students will learn starter knowledge about banking and how businesses operate. This includes understanding how money flows through a business, pricing products correctly, and understanding profit and expenses. You also learn how to create and manage online businesses.
For classes 3-4, the focus is on designing and making products such as wallets, bags, keychains, and containers. They also utilized laser cutting and screen printing to create items for sale on the Roosevelt website.
Finally, in 5-6, students work to help organizations through Schnitzer Cares while continuing to build a stronger foundation in running a business. This includes managing apparel and running the student store here at Roosevelt. Additionally, students learn web design and marketing to promote and sell their work.
Katelyn, a Senior here at Roosevelt, says, “ What I liked about Business Management was how well everything went throughout the school year. My teacher, Ms. Bundu-Kamara, made the class really easy-going, and the assignments assigned to my class were straightforward. My favorite part of the Business Management class was the partnership with the Schnitzer Care program. Within my time with them, I got to experience the business world, and communicating with more experienced people was one of the struggles, but it gave me an experience that I will never forget. I highly recommend the class!”
